Sage's Ackerman and Putriment honored by Skyline Conference

New York, NY--Sage had a pair of student-athletes named as the Athlete of the Week in their respective sports with the release of the weekly report on October 22.

Sage's sophomore women's tennis player, Kirsten Ackerman (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) and sophomore women's volleyball player, Helen Putriment (Troy, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) were each recognized for their efforts last week.

Ackerman went 2-0 in both singles and doubles last week for Sage’s women’s tennis team. She opened the week with a win over her foe from Mt. St. Mary College, who had been undefeated. She also added a win in doubles for the Gators. She capped the week with a win at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles for a perfect week. She finishes her first season at Sage with an impressive 14-1 overall record in singles. She was unbeaten in dual match singles play with a 13-0 record, including a 6-0 mark in Skyline Conference matches. She added a 13-3 record in doubles action as well this season. She earned her third Skyline Player of the Week citation as well.

Putriment averaged 3.67 kills per set with an impressive .419 attack % last week. She added 4.83 digs per set as well and had a double-double against Old Westbury (13 kills, 11 digs). On the season, she has 327 digs with a .923 reception % as well, which is tops among 2012 starters. On her career, she continues to climb the Gator kills list as she is No. 9 with 626, just 1 behind Krista Provost’s 627 (2007-2008). She is also a candidate for the 2012 CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District Team.
