Geneva, NY–  The Sage Colleges' women's tennis team had two members in action at the 2012 ITA Northeast Regional Championship on the campus of William Smith College on Saturday.

Representing Sage in the 64-player singles draw were sophomore Kirsten Ackerman (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) and senior captain Mackenzie Riley (Albany, NY/Albany).

Ackerman opened her singles action facing The College of New Jersey's Paige Aiello and fell, 8-6. The loss snaps Ackerman's 11-match singles' win streak dating back to last season. In the consolation round she will face Jenna Lehner of St. John Fisher.

Riley fell to Alex Smith of Skidmore, 8-1. The loss was the first of the year for Riley, who drops to 8-1 and also snaps her impressive win streak as well that had grown to 15 matches and dated back to October, 2010. She is now 18-2 in singles on her Sage career.

The pair also competed with one another in doubles as well on Saturday and beat St. Lawrence University's Anna Young and Shannon Murphy, 9-7. The Sage pair will play in the second round of the singles on Sunday, facing Steven's Jessica Bourque and Lisa Tessitore.
