Troy, NY– The Sage Colleges' women's tennis team hosted the Jays of NYU-Poly on Saturday afternoon in a Skyline Conference match held at Prospect Park. The Gators tallied a 9-0 to improve to 8-4 overall and 2-2 in the league. NYU-Poly falls to 0-7 overall and 0-4 in the conference.

Sage posted a number of significant wins on the day as they swept the match and at first singles, sophomore  Kirsten Ackerman (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) was a 6-0, 6-0 winner and has elevated and record to an impressive 12-1 record, while boasting a record of 11-0 at first singles in dual match play. She was joined with a 6-0, 6-0 win in singles by senior Isabella Pericone (Scotia, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston Lake) as she did not lose a single game in her win at No. 3 singles. Pericone is unbeaten in singles play this fall and is now 12-0.

Senior captain Mackenzie Riley (Albany, NY/Albany) added a convincing win at No. 2 singles and improves to 11-3 this season and is now 21-4 on her singles career at Sage. She teamed at first doubles with Pericone for an 8-0 win as well and the Gator pair is now 8-4 together.

Freshman Julia Race (Adams, NY/South Jefferson) recorded her first career singles win as she won at No. 6 singles.

The Gators will play their next match on October 17 when they travel to defending league champions, Mt. St. Mary College for a 5 p.m. Skyline Conference match.
