Edgewater, NJ– The Sage Colleges' women's tennis team travelled to Yeshiva University on Sunday afternoon for a Skyline Conference women's tennis match. The Gators tallied an 8-1 win to improve to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the Skyline Conference. The loss puts Yeshiva at 1-1 overall and in the league.

At No. 1 singles, Sage's sophomore Kirsten Ackerman (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) easily beat senior Shara Feltheimer (Lawrence, NY/HAFTA), 6-0, 6-0. Ackerman is a perfect 4-0 on the season at first singles.

Sage's senior captain Mackenzie Riley (Albany, NY/Albany) picked up a 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) win at No. 2 singles as she bested sophomore Rachel Shapiro (Riverdale, NY/Yeshiva H.S. For Girls).  Riley has now won 11 straight singles matches dating back to the fall of 2010 and sports a 14-1 career singles record at Sage.

Riley and senior Isabella Perricone (Scotia, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston Lake) combined for an 8-2 win at first   doubles, besting Feltheimer and R. Shapiro. At second doubles, Ackerman and junior Mary Kate Hayward (Queensbury, NY/Glens Falls) posted an 8-3 win as they beat senior Julia Shrier (Rochester, NY/Ora Academy) and freshman Galila Shapiro (Englewood, NJ/Frisch).

Danielle Stein posted the lone win for Yeshiva at No. 6 singles as she beat Dana Fowler, 6-4, 6-4.

Sage returns to action on Wednesday, September 12 hosting Bard College in a non-conference match at Prospect Park at 4:30 p.m. Yeshiva University returns to action on September 11 travelling to Farmingdale State for an 8 p.m. Skyline Conference match.
