Sage women's volleyball hands Bard a 3-0 loss

Annandale-on-Hudson, NY--The Sage College's women's volleyball team collected their eighth win in their eighth match of the year. The Gators downs Bard on Wednesday night, 3-0 (25-15,25-17,25-20) and improve to 8-0 on the year, while Bard drops to  2-4.  The Gators are off to the best start in the program's 41-year history.

Rookie middle hitter Mickey Mango (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga) added six kills for the Gators, while sophomore Helen Putriment (Troy, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) had 5 kills.   Junior setter Joanie Cooney (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) added 21 setting assists with 10 digs and 4 kills for Sage.

Sophomore Katelyn Drollette (Cadyville, NY/Saranac) added 8 digs with a pair of serving aces. Rookie Kelsey Ray (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) added 3 kills, 3 aces and a solo block in pacing the team to the win.

The Gators will travel to Union College for the Union Invitational on Friday and Saturday, September 14-15 with matches against Oneonta State, Utica College, Skidmore College and Brockport State.
