Albany, NY---The Sage Colleges men's soccer team member, junior forward Scott Jarosz (Brunswick, ME/Brunswick) was named the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District First Team on Thursday afternoon for his efforts in the classroom and on the playing field. He becomes the first Sage men's soccer player to garner this distinction.

First-team Academic All-District ® honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

The Capital One Division II and III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2012-13 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams program.

Jarosz has enjoyed a record-setting season with the Gators as he is one of the top scorers in the NCAA Division III this fall. Entering Friday's Skyline Conference Semifinals, Jarosz ranks in four offensive categories. He has 38 on 19 goals with three game-winning goals. Through last week, he was ranked nationally in scoring as he is fifth in goals (19), No. 6 in goals per game (1.12), No. 15 in points per game (2.24) and No. 18 in total points.

He continues to add to his active hold on the career scoring records at Sage as he has 28 goals and 57 points.

Named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Metro Division III Men's Soccer Player of the Week on October 10, he has also been named the Skyline Conference Men's Player or Co-Player of the Week on three occasions this fall.

He continues to add to his active hold on the career scoring records at Sage as he has 28 goals and 57 points. His 2012 totals for goals and total points are also active single-season Sage marks.

Active at Sage as a member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee, he has helped the student-athletes at Sage as they have been active in the community with New York State Special Olympics. He is a physical therapy major at Sage and throughout his career, the team has earned post-season appearances in the Skyline Conference in 2010, 2011, and now 2012, while last year's team also earned a spot in the 2011 Eastern College Athletic Conference Metro NY-NJ Tournament.

The men's soccer team at Sage, which is just in its third season as a varsity program, continues to impress folks every time they step onto the field. The Gators earned the No. 2 seed in the 2012 Skyline Conference Semifinals and will host #3 seeded Mt. St. Mary College on Friday, November 2 at 1 p.m. at nearby Albany College of Pharmacy. The winner of Friday's contest advances to Sunday's Skyline Conference Championship game and a shot at earning the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.
