Jarosz scores twice to break scoring mark as Gators win 8th straight

Albany, NY---The Sage Colleges men's soccer team hosted the Privateers of Maritime College on Wednesday night at the Plumeri Sports Complex in a Skyline Conference match. The Gators posted the 3-1 win to improve to 8-1 on the year overall, while standing at 3-0 in the conference. Maritime, the defending Skyline Conference Champions, drop to 4-5 and 0-2 in the league.

Sage's junior forward Scott Jarosz (Brunswick, ME/Brunswick) etched his name into the young Sage men's soccer record book once again as he tallied two goals and four points on the evening. He now has 41 career points and surpassed the mark set last season by Wesley Finch (37).

Jarosz converted the feed from Tyler Denton (Sauquoit, NY/(Sauquoit Valley) at the 9:43. Sophomore Jose Miranda (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) put the Gators up 2-0 with his score at 23:06 on the feed from Denton.

The Gators took a 2-0 lead at the break and the Privateers pulled within one goal as senior midfielder Chris Anderson (Manorville, NY/Eastport-S. Manor) converted a penalty kick goal at 48:31 for his fourth goal of the season.

Jarosz put the Gators up 3-1 with his team-leading 11th goal of the season as he scored at 57:06.   Jarosz, who is working on a personal-best campaign now has 20 career goals and an assist for 41 points. His 20 career goals in an active Sage career goal-scoring record.

In goal for the Gators, freshman TJ Zehner (Beacon, NY/Beacon) made eight saves. Maritime's starting keeper, senior Michael Vanadia (Commack, NY/Commack) was knocked from the game in the opening minutes after colliding on a play. Junior John Dunne (Southold, NY/Southold) replaced him and played the next 88 minutes with eight saves in taking the loss.

Sage returns to action on September 29 travelling to SUNY-Old Westbury for a 1 p.m. Skyline Conference match, while Maritime College hosts Purchase College on September 28 in a 7 p.m. Skyline match.
