Old Westbury, NY---The Sage Colleges men's soccer team posted a convincing 7-0 win on the road over SUNY-Old Westbury on Saturday. The victory for Sage is the squad's ninth in a row as the Gators improve to 9-1 overall and remain untouched in the league at 4-0. OW drops to 1-10 overall and 0-2 in the league.
Sage led 1-0 at the break after junior midfielder David Gould (Frankfort, NY/Frankfort Schuyler Central) tallied the score at the 4:27 mark on a feed from Tyler Denton (Sauquoit, NY/(Sauquoit Valley). The goal, which was his second of the season would turn out to be the game-winning, his first of the year.
Sage exploded for six second-half goals including a hat trick from the team's leading scorer, junior forward Scott Jarosz (Brunswick, ME/Brunswick). He continues to rewrite the Sage men's soccer scoring records as he now has a personal-and program-best 14 goals this season. Overall on his Sage career, Jarosz now has 23 career goals and 47 points.
In goal for the Gators, freshman TJ Zehner (Beacon, NY/Beacon) made three saves in posting the shutout win, his third of the year. He improves to 7-1 in goal this fall.
Sage returns to action on October 3 travelling to Purchase College for 7 p.m. Skyline Conference match.
