Sage men's soccer garnering national attention!

Albany, NY---  The men's soccer team at Sage, which is just in its third season as a varsity program, continues to impress folks every time they step onto the field. The Gators are coming off a week that saw the team post a pair of wins, while extending its win streak to 11 games. The Gators find themselves among the ranked team in the NCAA East Region, a program first! Sage is ranked 10th regionally in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Men's Poll. The Gators are also 5-0 in the Skyline Conference heading into a week that finds two league foes visiting the Sage Gators. 

Sage will host the Dolphins of the College of Mt. St. Vincent on Oct. 10 and St. Joseph's (LI) on Oct. 13.  

Junior forward Scott Jarosz (Brunswick, ME/Brunswick) has become a national statistical leader with his high-scoring talents this season. Jarosz, who once again was named the Skyline Conference Co-Player of the Week, tallied 3 goals last week as well as a game-winning goal in the team's road win over Elmira College. He leads Sage with a pair of action season records that includes most goal (17) and most points (34). Not only does he lead the Skyline Conference in scoring, but he ranks among the top scorers in all of Division III. Jarosz is No. 2 in Division III in goal per game with a 1.42 average, while also ranking No. 4 in total points with his 34 points this season. He also checks in No. 6 in points per game with a 2.83 per game average. Jarosz also is No. 3 in total goals this season (17). He has a pair of game-winning goals as well this fall and now has 3 game-winners on his career. 

He continues to add to his active hold on the career scoring records at Sage as he has 26 goals and 53 points. 

Sophomores Gustavo Trinidad (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) now has 11 points this season and is second in the scoring race with his 3 goals and 5 assists. He too has a pair of game-winners for the Gators this fall. He ranks 89th in Division III in assists per game, while standing 65th in assists. 

Junior forward Michael Sparrin (Ilion, NY/Ilion) is third in the scoring race with 10 points on 5 goals, including two game-winners. 

Sophomore Jose Miranda (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) is next with 10 points as well on his 4 goals and 2 assists. 

Sophomore Kenny Barnes (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) has chipped in with 9 points on 3 goals and 3 asists, while Tyler Denton (Saquoit, NY/Saquoit Valley) has 2 goals with 4 assists for 8 points. 

Junior David Gould (Frankfort, NY/Frankfort Schulyer Central) has 2 goals with 3 assists for 7 points and added a game-winning goal as well for Sage in 12 games played. 

Junior midfielder Kris Kallenbach (Bristol, CT/Bristol Central) has a team-leading 6 assists this fall and ranks 32nd in Div. 3 in total assists, while ranking 44th with his 0.5 assists per game average. 

In goal for the Gators, freshman TJ Zehner (Beacon, NY/Beacon) went 2-0 last week while collecting his fourth shutout win as the team beat Purchase, 2-0 on the road. He followed that effort up with an impressive 11 save game as Sage beat Elmira, 2-1. He earned another posting to the Skyline Conference Weekly Honor Roll. He is now 9-1 in goal for Sage. He also has an impressive 0.72 GAA with a .854 saves percentage for the Gators. He is ranked 36th in saves percentage and 45th in GAA as well. 

Overall on the 2012 season, Sage's men's squad is also among the national statistical leaders as they are No. 8 in scoring offense (3.33), No. 10 in goals (40), No. 11 in win-loss percentage (.917), as well as No. 12 in total points (108). Sage is also ranked in goals against average (No. 42), shutout % (No. 73), Save % (No. 33), total assists (No. 20) and Saves Per Game (No. 255).
