Purchase, NY---The Sage Colleges men's soccer team collected a 2-0 win on the road over Purchase College on Tuesday night. The win for Sage is the squad's 10th in a row as the Gators improve to 10-1 overall and remain untouched in the league at 5-0. Purchase moves to 5-3-1 overall and 2-2 in the league.
Sage led 1-0 at the break after sophomore Gustavo Trinidad (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) converted his penalty kick goal to give the Gators a 1-0 lead at the 39:05. The goal was his third of the season.
In the second half, junior forward Scott Jarosz (Brunswick, ME/Brunswick) tallied his team-leading 15th goal of the season on a feed from junior defender Kris Kallenbach (Bristol, CT/Bristol Central). He scored from about 10 yards out at the 63:27 mark and gave his team a 2-0 lead.
Jarsoz is continuing his torrid pace to rewrite all of Sage's scoring records as he has now attached his name to records for most goals in a season (15), most career goals (24), most career points (49) and is pulled even closer to another record as he is now tied for the mark for most points in a season with 30.
The assist was the seventh of the year for Kallenbach as he leads the Gators in assists.
In goal for the Gators, freshman TJ Zehner (Beacon, NY/Beacon) made one save in posting the shutout win, his fourth of the year. He improves to 8-1 in goal this fall.
Sage returns to action on October 7 travelling to Elmira College for a 2 p.m. non-conference game.
