Albany, NY – The Sage Colleges' men's soccer team hosted the Dolphins of the College of Mt. St. Vincent on Saturday in conjunction with Senior Day. The host Gators delivered the 4-0 win to improve to 8-6-1 overall and 6-2 in the league. CMSV drops to 8-9 overall and 4-4 in the conference.
Sage led 1-0 at the break as junior Peter Fabrykiwicz (Delancey, NY/Andes) converted a penalty kick for what would be the game-winning goal on the afternoon. By day's end, he would have three points and added to his team-leading total with 18 points on seven goals and four assists. Senior defender Tyler Denton (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit Valley) added to the day with an assist, while rookie Derlis Zayas (White Plains, NY/White Plains) and junior defender Fayssal Abdou (New Haven, CT/Wilbur Cross) also scored goals in the match.
Sage's junior goalie T.J. Zehner (Beacon, NY/Beacon) needed to make just one save in sharing the shutout win with junior Chris Dunham (Valley Falls, NY/Grace Christian). Zehner now has 151 career saves, an active record.
Sage returns to action on October 29 travelling to SUNY-Old Westbury for a 3 p.m. Skyline Conference contest rescheduled from earlier in the month. The contest is the league finale as the Gators are looking to secure a possible bye in the upcoming tournament as the No. 2 seed. The Gators have garnered Skyline Conference bids in each of the team's five seasons.
