Trinidad helps lift Gators past Maritime 4-0 with his 3 assists

ALBANY, NY – The Sage Colleges' men's soccer team hosted the Privateers of Maritime College on Saturday afternoon in a Skyline Conference contest and came away with a 4-0 win. The Gators held a 3-0 lead at the break and by day's end was paced by the play of senior midfielder Gustavo Trinidad (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) as he finished with a team best three assists on the day. With the win, Sage is 5-5-1 overall and 3-1 in the Skyline, while Maritime drops to 5-6-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the league.

Trinidad, who set Sage's career assist mark as a junior, now has 26 career assists with 68 career points. He is No. 2 on the Gator point list with his 68 points on 21 goals and 24 assists and is No. 2 in goals as well.

Rookie midfielder Heriberto Gomaz (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) scored his first career goal as he converted the feed from rookie Kevin Saar (Binghamton, NY/Windsor Central) at 3:09. Junior Peter Fabrykiwicz (Delancey, NY/Andes) added his second goal of the season as he tallied a goal at 31:22 on the pass from Trinidad.

Sophomore Alex Lanza (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill) gave the Gators a 3-0 lead as he tallied his first of the season on a pair of feeds from both Trinidad and Fabrykiwicz at the 38:56 mark.

The final goal of the day came on a corner kick as Trinidad set up the play and senior Jose Miranda (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) pushed the ball to the left side past Maritime's junior keeper Karl Webber (Northport, NY/Northport) at 61:49.

Sage's junior goalie TJ Zehner (Beacon, NY/Beacon) was in net for the Gators and had three saves in goal in his 67 minutes of service and shared in the shutout win with junior Chris Dunham (Valley Falls, NY/Grace Christian). Dunham made one save in the win, while Webber had eight stops in the loss. On the 2014 campaign, the Gators have now held their opponents scoreless on five occasions.

Sage returns to action on October 14 visiting Sarah Lawrence College in a Skyline Conference contest which will take place at 7 p.m. at Phill Rizzuto Field in Elizabeth, NJ.
