Record night as men's soccer tops FSC, 3-1

ALBANY, NY The Sage Colleges' men's soccer team hosted the Rams of Farmingdale State College on Saturday night in a Skyline Conference contest. After trailing 1-0 at the half, the host Gators tallied a 3-1 win as senior Gustavo Trinidad (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) became the program's all-time point leader in the action as the Gators won 3-1. Sage is now 7-5-1 overall and 5-1 in the league, while FSC drops to 6-9-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the conference.  The victory also represents the 50th career win for Sage's head coach, Kyle Clancy who is in his fifth season as the coach of the Gators.

FSC led 1-0 at the break as junior midfielder Victor Romero (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) scored his sixth goal of the year on a pass from junior J.T. Famularo (Levittown, N/Island Trees) at 38:22.

Sage opened the second half on a high note as Trinidad found the net at 50:42 off a feed from senior Jose Miranda (Bay Shore, NY/ Bay Shore)  and in the process became the program's all-time point leader as he broke the mark held by Scott Jarosz (2010-2013, 35g, 1a, 71 points). Trinidad now has 73 career points on 22 goals and 29 assists.

Junior Sean Lanza (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill) gave the Gators a 2-1 lead as he scored at 63:20 on a pass Miranda, in what would be the game-winner. The Gators added a final goal at 69:40 as rookie Paul Reynoso (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) scored on a pass from sophomore Alex Lanza (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill).

Sage's junior goalie T.J. Zehner (Beacon, NY/Beacon) added five saves in earning the win and stands at 7-5-1 on the year. Zehner continues to add to his career resume as well having recorded 142 career saves, 21 wins in net and a 0.88 GAA, all active career records for the Gator team captain.

FSC's rookie goalie Brian Best (Farmingdale, NY/Farmingdale) got the nod in goal for the Rams and made eight saves, but took the loss and drops to 0-1 on the year.

Sage returns to action on October 21 travelling to Mt. St. Mary College for a 7 p.m. Skyline Conference contest. FSC is back in action on October 22 facing St. Joseph's College (LI) in a 3:30 p.m. league contest.
