Sage men's soccer tops SJC 2-0 in Skyline Action

Albany, NY – The Sage Colleges' men's soccer team hosted the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's College (LI) on Saturday afternoon in Skyline Conference play. Sage's men's team topped St. Joe's, 2-0 to improve 3-4-1 overall and 2-0 in the league. St. Joe's drops to3-8 overall and 1-2 in the conference.

Sage led 1-0 at the break as junior Jose Miranda (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) scored at 3:01 for his first goal of the season off a direct kick about 18 yards out from the left side. Sage jumped out to a 2-0 lead when junior Mu'Ammar Camara (New Haven, CT/Eli Whitney) at 62:38 on a feed from senior Gustavo Trinidad (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) for his third goal of the season. Trinidad, who ranks No. 2 all-time on the Gator scoring list now has 65 points on 21 goals and an active mark of 23 career assists.

Sage's junior goalie TJ Zehner (Beacon, NY/Beacon) had four saves in the action as he picked up his third shutout of the 2014 season and is now the program's all-time leader in saves (129), wins (17), and shutouts (13). St. Joseph's sophomore goalie Avery Gomez (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) finished with six saves in the loss.

Sage is back in action on Wednesday, October 1 hosting Southern Vermont College at 4 p.m. at Albany Pharmacy's Athletic Complex. SJC's next contest is October hosting Drew University at 7 p.m.
