Gators top SVC with 6-0 romp to collect season-high in scoring

Albany, NY – The Sage Colleges' men's soccer team hosted the Mountaineers of Southern Vermont College on Wednesday and came away with a 6-0 victory, improving to 4-4-1. SVC drops to 0-8-1.

Sage held a 5-0 lead at the half as junior Mu'Ammar Camara (New Haven, CT/Eli Whitney) scored the first goal on the afternoon on a feed from junior Sean Lanza (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill) at 7:26. By game's end, he had three points on a goal and an assist to lead the team with his 10 points on the year.

Rookie Kevin Saar (Binghamton, NY/Windsor Central) also tallied three points and now has 8 points on three goals and an assist.  The six-goal performance by the Gators was a season-high and helps the Gators win 3-1 lifetime against SVC having posted a 7-0 win over the Mountaineers a year ago.

Sage's junior goalie TJ Zehner (Beacon, NY/Beacon) started the afternoon, playing the first half and made no saves in his 45 minutes of service. He shared in the shutout win with junior Chris Dunham (Valley Falls, NY/Grace Christian) and rookie Caelen Kohut (Ancram, NY/Hudson). SVC's rookie Cody Gross (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) recorded 17 saves in the loss.

Sage is back in action on Wednesday, October 4 travelling to SUNY-Old Westbury for a 1 p.m. Skyline Conference match-up. Southern Vermont College returns to action on October 4 travelling to Daniel Webster College for a 4 p.m. contest.
