Gators fall on the road to Potsdam, 3-2

Potsdam, NY – The Sage Colleges' men's soccer team travelled to SUNY-Potsdam for a non-conference match on Saturday afternoon. The host Bears came away with the 3-2 win to improve 3-1-1 on the year, while  Sage drops to 0-3 on the season.

Potsdam took a 1-0 lead as Stephen Auyer converted a pass from Eric Cassidy at the 9:34 mark. The Gators answered right back as sophomore midfielder Kyle LeClerc (Beacon, NY/Beacon) converted the feed from freshman Paul Reynoso (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) midfielder at 24:37. Sage took a 2-1 lead as senior defender Tyler Denton (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit Valley) scored from junior midfielder Mu'Ammar Camara (New Haven, CT/Eli Whitney) at 34:54. The game became tied at 2-2 just before the break as Ben Firlit scored at 44:20.

For the Bears, Cliff Bondi scored the game winner on an assist from Tom Benedetto at 65:42.

Sage's junior goalie TJ Zehner (Beacon, NY/Beacon) had three saves in the action, while Potsdam's s Nick Davies made three saves in earning the win.

Sage is back in action in the Gators' home opener on September 10 at 5 p.m. as they host Skidmore College at ACP's Athletic Complex.
