Tyler Denton had a strong rookie campaign at Sage in 2011. He played in 19 games with 5 points on 2 goals and an assist. He was part of the 2011 team that earned the No. 3 seed in the Skyline Conference Tournament, advancing to the semifinals. That same team also earned the program's first ECAC Tournament berth and appeared in the ECAC Metro NY-NJ Tournament.

As a sophomore, he started 16 of 20 games played and helped the team rank nationally in several categories. They were No. 46 in both win percentage (.725) and team goals against average (0.84), while ranking No. 33 in saves percentage (.837). Offensively, Sage was ranked No. 51 in total goals (47) and No. 54 in total offense (2.35), while also ranking 62nd in total points (125) and No. 80 in total assists (31).

Last season, he started 2 of 13 matches played and collected 2 goals. He added a game-winning goal for the Gators  in the 3-1 win over NYU-Poly. He has now played in 52 games for the Gators with 6 goals, 5 assists and 17 points. He ranks No. 8 in career points, No. 6 in career assists and is tied for game-winning goals (No. 4, 2). He also ranks No. 8 in career games played entering the 2014 season.

At Sauquoit Valley High School, he was a team captain and guided the squad to a third round appearance in the sectionals.

At Sage, he is active with the SAAC and enjoys snowboarding in his free time. He is majoring in physical therapy at Sage and is the son of Dave and Leigh Denton. He was named to the Skyline Conference Scholar-Athlete Team in both 2012 and 2013, while also earning a spot on the Sage Scholar-Athlete Team four times over the last two years.
