Zehner signs with FA Euro of the PDL

FA Euro announce its fourth signing for the PDL, Sage's junior goalkeeper TJ Zehner (Beacon, NY/Beacon). Zehner was a standout at the club tryouts earlier this year.

A graduate of Beacon High School, Thomas (TJ) Zehner arrived at Sage in 2012 after a stellar scholastic career. In his first season with the Gators he earned numerous awards, including a selection to the 2012 Skyline Conference All-Start Second Team. Named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week twice in 2012, he was named to the Skyline Weekly Honor Roll five times in 2012. He capped the season with a 12-4-1 record in goal and boasted a 0.78 GAA after playing in 18 games with seven shutouts. At season's end, he was named the team's Gator award winner as Most Valuable Player.

As a junior, Zehner served as the team's captain in 2014. By year's end, he was placed on the 2014 Skyline Conference All-Star First Team. He also earned ECAC Metro All-Star Second team honors. He went 9-8-1 on the year in goal. He continues to add to his extensive list of records as the Gators' keeper.

Zehner also hold an active record in several categories at Sage. He holds marks for most saves (171) as well as most appearances in goal (43) and most career starts in goal (43). On his 2014 season, the Gator captain has a 1.15 GAA with 55 saves and only 17 goals allowed in 16 starts. He ranks nationally in both GAA and saves percentage (.764). On his career, he owns a 23-14-4 record with 13.1 shutouts. He sports a 1.03 GAA with 41 goals allowed in 3,600 minutes of service in 43 outings.

Sage went 9-8-1 on the 2014 season with a 7-2 mark in Skyline Conference play and advanced to the semifinals of the league playoffs, while also garnering a spot in the 2014 ECAC Metro Men's Soccer Tournament.

He is coming off an injury shortened 2013 season that saw the team finish as the Skyline Conference regular-season champions, while collecting the squad's third straight ECAC Tournament appearance. He went 2-1-2 in seven matches played and started and capped the campaign with a 0.857 saves percentage and a 0.63 goals against average with three shutouts.

Over the summer of 2014, he completed his first season as a member of the NJ LUSO Parma PDL team. He is the first Sage men's soccer player to compete in the United Soccer League's Premier Development League. In his first season, Zehner earned six starts in goal, gaining valuable experience at a very competitive level of play.
