ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College sophomore opposite Dylan Fox (Albany, NY/Colonie Central), was voted second-team All-New England Volleyball Conference. Results of the voting, as conducted by the league's head coaches, were announced by the NEVC office earlier this morning.
Fox, the 2024 NEVC Rookie of the Year, began the week ranked second in the Conference with 320 kills. To date, he's totaled 380 points, 160 digs, 60 blocks, 24 aces and 24 digs to help the Gators qualify for the NEVC Championship Tournament for the second-straight season.
One member of each school made the NEVC Sportsmanship Team. Opposite Eli Tortorici (Clifton Park, NY/Mohonasen/HVCC), a graduate student, represented RSC on the squad. He's registered 15 kills, 14 digs, and five aces across 16 matches this spring.
On Wednesday night, the Gators (9-22) play at Endicott in the Quarterfinals of the NEVC Championship Tournament.
The NEVC is a NCAA Division III single-sport conference sponsoring the sport of men's volleyball. The conference is comprised of seven institutions, Bard College, Endicott College, Nichols College, SUNY Polytechnic Institute, SUNY Potsdam, Russell Sage College, and Vermont State: Johnson.
Gator Bites with Papa John's: The spring marks the fourth with Reid Hartl at the helm of the Gators…RSC returns six players from last season's team, highlighted by Fox, the 2024 New England Volleyball Conference Rookie of the Year…The opposite, chosen the NEVC Player of the Week twice this spring, began the week ranked second in the Conference with 320 kills...Setter Anthony Guetti (Clifton Park, NY/Shen) was selected the NEVC Rookie of the Week for the period ending Sunday, March 30...He recorded 107 assists, 16 digs, eight aces, four kills, and a block to help RSC go 2-1 and secure an NEVC Championship Tournament berth...Hartl added nine newcomers to the roster, including senior middle blocker Confidence Burrowes (East Orange, NJ/Donald M. Payne/Wells)…Fox, Burrows, and senior libero Wylkins Occelin (Brooklyn, NY/John Dewey) were voted co-captains.
