RSC Men's Volleyball Faces Pair of Nationally-Ranked Opponents on Sunday

MARCY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College wrapped up its season-opening weekend at the SUNY Poly Tournament by facing a pair of teams ranked in the American Volleyball Coaches Association preseason national poll.

The Gators fell 3-0 in both of Sunday's non-conference matches against #17 Nazareth (25-9, 25-13, 25-14) and #19 Lasell (25-19, 25-15, 25-19). 

Sophomore opposite Dylan Fox (Albany, NY/Colonie Central), the 2024 New England Volleyball Conference Rookie of the Year, led the way offensively for RSC, totaling 14 kills over the two matches. Freshman setter Anthony Guetti (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) assisted his teammates a Gator-high 28 times over the doubleheader. 
 
Fox also led RSC with nine digs on the day.
 
Three others found themselves with five or more kills on Sunday, as freshman outside hitter John Lindheimer (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) registered seven and junior outside hitter Sean Pingelski (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) and senior opposite Wylkins Occelin (Brooklyn, NY/John Dewey) each had six. Pingelski was voted to the Tournament's first-team, while Occelin made the second-team.

RSC (0-4) plays next on Wednesday at American International.


Gator Bites with Papa John's: The spring marks the fourth with Reid Hartl at the helm of the Gators…RSC returns six players from last season's team, including Fox, the 2024 New England Volleyball Conference Rookie of the Year…Hartl added nine newcomers to the roster, highlighted by senior middle blocker Confidence Burrowes (East Orange, NJ/Donald M. Payne/Wells)…FoxBurrows, and Occelin were voted co-captains.
