ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Men's Soccer pulled out an important victory on Saturday afternoon, taking down the Wolves of Keuka 5-1 at the ACP Athletic Complex.
The Gators (7-6-2/4-3-2 E8) started off hot, scoring four of their season high five goals in the first half. RSC outshot Keuka (0-13/0-6 E8) 26 to six on the way to their fourth Empire 8 conference victory.
Senior forward Alessandro Cerbara (Rome, Italy/SS Lazio/Saint Rose) and forward El Hadji Iba Sy (Bronx, NY/Emma Lazarus), a grad student, led the way for RSC. The duo each found the back of the net twice in the victory. Iba Sy scored both of his goals in the first half, while Cerbara spread the wealth, scoring in both halves. Junior forward Joel Tshiamala (Banyoles, Girona, Spain/Sports EDU/Marietta) added to the total with his second goal of the season.
The Gators shared the wealth all afternoon, as sophomore forward Dimitri Gogas (Merrick, NY/W.C. Mepham) tallied two assists while Iba Sy and freshman forward Ian Nafey (Rock Hill, SC/Wallkill) each added one.
"My teammates trusted me and I was able to finish the chances I got," shared Iba Sy following the victory. "We got the job done right and sealed the deal, time to keep it going."
The Gators have a week off before returning to the pitch next Saturday at Houghton.
