ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Men's Soccer spent the hot Saturday afternoon taking on the Saxons of Alfred, and the Gators came out on top, a 1-0 victory that pushed RSC to a 2-0 record to begin Empire 8 Conference Play.

The Gators (4-2-0) got their lone score off the foot of sophomore forward Dimitri Gogas (Merrick, NY/W.C. Mepham), finding the back of the net early into the first half to give RSC all they needed for the victory.

Sage's defense shined once again, keeping the Saxons (3-5, 1-1 E8) to just six shots all afternoon. Freshman goalkeeper Maximilian Bertmann (South Burlington, VT/South Burlington) (3-1-0), who was selected the Empire 8 Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, September 15, stopped all three of Alfred's shots-on-goal.

"The team's confidence is at an all-time high," shared Gogas following the win. "We're going into Elmira focused on getting another conference win and making it 3-0."

RSC (4-2-0/2-0-0 E8) continues Conference play on Wednesday at 7:00 pm at Elmira.
