ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College and visiting Hartford had a defensive battle on Wednesday afternoon at the ACP Athletic Complex. The squads combined for just three shots on goal during the ninety minutes of non-conference action, which ended up 1-0 in favor of the visiting Hawks (4-0-1).
The lone goal came via a penalty kick with 14:30 remaining by forward Alex Quinones, a grad student.
Sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Lunn (3-0-1) made a diving stop off the only RSC shot on target, an 82nd minute rocket ticketed for the upper right corner off the foot of forward El Hadji Iba Sy (Bronx, NY/Emma Lazarus), a grad student, to preserve the clean sheet. Iba Sy tops the Gators (3-3-0) with three goals on the season.
On the other end of the pitch, RSC freshman goalkeeper Maximilian Bertmann (South Burlington, VT/South Burlington) (3-2-0), who was selected the Empire 8 Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, September 15, made a save.
The Gators return to E8 play on Saturday vs. Alfred. Start time at the ACP Athletic Complex is slated for 4:00 pm.
