ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Men's Soccer hosted new Empire 8 Conference member SUNY Geneseo on Saturday afternoon, falling 3-1 in the contest at the ACP Athletic Complex.
The Gators (4-5-0/2-2-0 E8) trailed 1-0 heading into the break and for most of the second half, but got on the board in the 74th minute as sophomore forward Peter Martillotta (Gasport, NY/Royalton Hartland) took a cross from junior defender Thomas Dominic Whalen (Arlington, VT/Arlington Memorial/Saint Rose) past the diving Knights goalie.
RSC's comeback was stunted when SUNY Geneseo (3-2-3/2-0-1 E8) ended the scoring with a third goal in the 77th minute.
Freshman goalkeeper Maximilian Bertmann (South Burlington, VT/South Burlington) (4-4-0) made six saves on the afternoon.
RSC is back on the pitch on Tuesday as they host SUNY Cobleskill for senior night.
