ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Men's Soccer battled with Utica in the rain on Wednesday night, falling to the Pioneers of Utica 3-0.
The Gators (6-6-0/2-3-0 E8) got 14 shots off in the loss. Junior midfielder Samir Filho (Boituva, Brazil/Colégio Adventista Terra Mater Finance/Saint Rose) led the charge with three, while freshman defender Logan Diebold (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) and sophomore midfielder Ammar Singaporewala (Loudonville, NY/Shaker) each shot twice.
Freshman goalkeeper Maximilian Bertmann (South Burlington, VT/South Burlington) (6-5-0), announced as the E8 Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, stopped four Pioneer shots on goal.
Utica (2-4-6/1-2-3 E8) found the back of the net three times in the first half and never looked back. Martin Mendoza tallied two goals and Anderson Velazquez added one.
