Patchogue, NY--- The Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's College survived a scare from the Sage College Gators on Saturday evening. SJC posted a 90-77 win to improve to a perfect 13-0 in Skyline Conference play and 17-2 overall, while Sage drops to 9-11 overall and 5-9 in the conference.
Sage jumped out to a 28-19 lead in the first half, before SJC came back to tie the action at 28-28 (5:25) and took a 39-31 lead into the locker room.
The Gators got several strong performances in the action as sophomore forward Ryan LaBelle (East Berne, NY/Berne-Know-Westerloo) exploded for a career-high 19 points and eight rebounds. Sage's sophomore guard Mason Horne (Albany, NY/La Salle Institute) tallied a team-best 20 points and shot 8-16 from the floor in the game.
Senior Pat Lanoue (Troy, NY/Hoosic Valley Central) added 11 points, while junior Matt Farbotko (Rouses Point, NY/Northeastern Clinton) tallied nine rebounds with seven points.
SCJ's Vincent Russo tallied 33 points in the contest with a 9-14 performance from three-point range. Trey Black added 25 points for the Golden Eagles as they connected on 15 three-point baskets in the action.
Sage returns to action on February 7 travelling to NYU-Poly for an 8 p.m. Skyline Conference contest on the road.
