Troy, NY--- The Panthers of SUNY-Old Westbury collected a 97-70 win over the Gators of The Sage College's in Skyline Conference men's basketball action on Sunday afternoon. The win puts the Panthers at 9-7 overall and 6-3 in the Skyline Conference, while Sage drops to 7-9 overall and 3-7 in the league.
Senior center Tavon McNair (Brooklyn, NY/Satellite Academy) finished with a personal-best 34 points and had a double-double with 34 points and 16 rebounds. He had 19 points in the first half to help OW to a 56-36 lead at the break.
On the afternoon, the Panthers poured in 16 three-point baskets and connected on a 55.2% shooting performance from three-point range (16-29) and made 11 of-17 in the first half of the contest.
Sage's rookie Michael Gallagher (Schenectady, NY/Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons) and senior guard Pat Lanoue (Troy, NY/Hoosic Valley Central) netted 15 points, while junior forward Matt Farbotko (Rouses Point, NY/Northeastern Clinton) tallied a double-double on 11 points with 10 rebounds. He has now scored 734 career points as the Gators' all-time leading scorer.
OW's sophomore guard Everard Bisnauth (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream Central) added 15 points, while rookie guard Omari Trebuse (Brookly, NY/Mt. Zion Christian Academy) finished with 14 points and handed out six assists.
Sage returns to action on January 25 travelling to Purchase College for a 6 p.m. Skyline Conference game.
