Throggs Neck, NY--- The Sage College's men's basketball team travelled to Maritime College on Tuesday night for its Skyline Conference opener for the year. The Gators came away with the 76-64 win and improve to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the league. Maritime falls to 1-4 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
Sage led 38-32 at the break and by game's end received a double-double from senior forward Ian Austin-Michaud (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane), while his brother, senior Dalton Austin-Michaud (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) added a game-high 22 points.
Junior forward Ryan Sager (Stuyvesant, NY/Ichabod Crane) added 10 points after making 4-of-5 of his shots from the floor as Sage shot a blistering 50.9% for the night (29-57).
Maritime's Mike McSloy added 18 points for the Privateers, while Sam Forte netted a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. The Privateers were held to just 39.7% shooting (23-58), while the Gators held a 44-27 edge on the boards.
Sage returns to action on December 3 travelling to SUNY-Old Westbury for a 4 p.m. Skyline Conference game.
