Sage erupts for program-best 101 points in win over RPI

Albany, NY--- The Sage College's men's basketball team hosted RPI on Tuesday evening in the Gators' home opener in the Kahl Center. Sage would come away with the 101-88 victory and improves to 2-2, while RPI drops to 1-2.

Sage was led by seniors Dalton Austin-Michaud (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) and Ian Austin-Michaud (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) as they combined for 43 points. Dalton led the Gators with his 25 points and 14 rebounds, while Ian added 18 points and 11 rebounds.

The 101 points sets a school record for Sage for most points in a contest, bettering the mark set in 2009 when they beat Albany Pharmacy, 100-60.

Sage's sophomore Mason Horne (Albany, NY/La Salle Institute) added 16 points, while junior forward Matt Farbotko (Rouses Point, NY/Northeastern Clinton) connected on 11 points to round out the team's high scorers on the night. Sage led 57-40 at the break and shot 68.3% for the half (21-36), while limiting the Engineers to 35.9% in the first stanza of action (14-39).

RPI's junior guard Brendan Farley (Burlington, MA/Burlington) had a team-high 18 points and hit an impressive 6-12 from downtown and was part of a lineup that finished with a combined 14 three-point baskets in the contest.

Senior guard Matthew Pooley (Middltown, NY/Chapel Field Christina) added 16 points, while junior forward Erik Hatton (Alkinson, NH/Timberlane Regional) tallied 15 points.

Sage returns to action on November 29 travelling to Maritime College for a 7 p.m. Skyline Conference game, while RPI is back in action the same evening facing Williams College on the road in a 7 p.m. non-conference game.
