Faas and Newberg honored by Skyline Conference; Times Set for Skyline Tournament

New York, NY – The Sage Colleges' softball team had two players honored by the Skyline Conference with the announcement of the Players of the Week. For the second straight week two of Sage's players were recognized as senior pitcher Kelsey Newberg (New Britain, CT/New Britain) was named the Pitcher of the Week and junior short stop Hillary Faas (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) was named the Player of the Week.

Newberg went 3-1 on the week over four starts with two complete games and 1.75 earned run average as Sage secured the third seed in this week's Skyline Championship. She fanned 15 batters in 21 innings pitched, while holding opponents to a .219 batting average. On her career as a batter, she owns a .299 average with 93 hits in 103 games played and 12 doubles.

Faas, who was also last week's Skyline Conference Player of the Week, batted .364 (8-for-22) with six runs scored and six RBI as Sage won three-of-four contests in league play to earn the No. 3 seed in the 2013 Skyline Tournament. She cracked three doubles and a home run and added three walks and had three multi-hit performances.

On the season, she has a .354 batting average, while also leading the Gators with her 25 RBIs. Faas has 10 doubles with five home runs.
