SAGE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT TO SPONSOR A NUMBER OF SPECIAL
EVENTS IN CONJUNCTION WITH UPCOMING BASKETBALL
GAMES
Troy, NY--- The Sage Colleges athletic department will be sponsoring a number of special events and promotions in conjunction with several upcoming basketball games.
- Sage will be holding "Snuggie Day" in conjunction with the
women's and men's basketball doubleheader on Saturday, January 30.
There will be prizes and special contests for all fans who attend
the games wearing a snuggie! Sage's women's basketball team will
open play that day hosting NYU-Poly in the Kahl Campus Center
(Albany) at 1 p.m. and the men's contest follows that day against
NYU-Poly at 3 p.m.
- On Tuesday, February 9, Sage will be holding their WBCA Pink
Zone contest when the College of Mount Saint Vincent visits the
Neff Athletic Center (Troy). Tip-off is at 6 p.m. and fans are
encouraged to wear pink to the contest and in lieu of an admission
charge, make a donation to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Fund.
Sage's athletic department will also be selling pink Sage t-shirts
for $10 at the contest and proceeds also benefit the
fund.
- Sage will also be sponsoring an event in conjunction with the
basketball game on February 9 to link athletics and the Rally 2010
events. Every spring semester at Russell Sage College the student
body comes together in order to raise money to benefit the
community and promote school spirit on campus. The 2010 event,
entitled "Rockin with the Moosic" commences with activities on
February 4 with the kickoff rally and wraps on February 19 with the
After Rally Party in Buchman. The first Rally started in 1937 with
an interclass basketball game intended to lift spirits during
mid-term blues. Since that time Rally has evolved into a two week
event. The event in conjunction with the Sage-Mount Saint Vincent
basketball game will include a banner contest as well as a halftime
cheer contest.
- On Thursday, February 11, Sage's men's basketball team will
participate in the NABC "Suits for Sneakers" game when they host
SUNY Maritime College in the Kahl Campus Center at 8 p.m. The
event, which is sponsored by the National Association of Basketball
Coaches (NABC) Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers program slated
for January 30-February 1.
- The coaching staffs at both institutions will join other head
college basketball coaches and their coaching staffs across the
country as they wear sneakers with their game attire to show their
support in the fight against cancer. National Association of
Basketball Coaches (NABC) member coaches want to express the
importance of cancer prevention and early detection.
Join NABC coaches and their staff members on this date as they wear sneakers with their game attire to show their support in the fight against cancer. By wearing sneakers with their suits, participating coaches are drawing attention to the fact that while cancer remains a major health concern, we can all reduce our risk; for those who don't smoke, control their weight, exercise, and maintain a healthy diet are the best ways to reduce the risk of cancer. The American Cancer Society can help by providing free, lifesaving information, resources and services to anyone affected by cancer.

Women to raise awareness of heart disease in women. Show your

Cardiac Kids for a fun filled day of basketball, red,

basketball on February 13. Go Red for Women is the
American Heart Association's national movement to make women aware
of their risk for heart disease, the No. 1 cause of death, and to
encourage them to take action to reduce that risk. Everyone can
support the fight against heart disease in women by wearing red.
It's a simple powerful way to raise awareness of heart disease and
stroke.
