Sage drops 65-59 game to Old Westbury on Senior Day

Albany, NY –The Sage Colleges' women's basketball team hosted the Panthers of SUNY-Old Westbury on Saturday afternoon in a Skyline Conference contest in the Kahl Gym. SUNY-Old Westbury tallied the 65-59 win to finish the 2012-2013 regular-season with a 16-9 overall record and a 10-4 Skyline Conference record, good enough for the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Skyline Conference Tournament. The Gators finish the season with an 8-16 overall mark and 5-9 in the league.

Prior to the game Sage recognized its three seniors in conjunction with Senior Day, Kara Hackett (Peru, NY/Peru Central), Carly Vallee (East Greenbush, NY/Catholic Central) and Laurel Jicha (Hannibal, NY/Hannibal).

Old Westbury held a 35-27 lead at the intermission and pulled within four points (down 55-51, 4:46) after trailing by as many as 16 (50-34, 14:33).

OW's junior guard DeAndra Scott (St. Albans, NY/Ceasar Rodney) paced the Panthers with her game-high 25 points and also added a team-best 11 rebounds. Sophomore center Clarissa Gallagher (Brooklyn, NY/Grand Street Campus) added 11 points with eight rebounds for the Panthers.   

For the Gators, sophomore guard Lea McClain (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) connected for her second straight 17 point performance with five rebounds and five assists.  Sophomore guard Megan Bowman (Saranac, NY/Saranac) racked up 14 points, while junior forward Chelsea Martin (Davenport, NY/Jefferson Central) tallied a eight points with seven rebounds.
