Late game run has Falcons besting Gators, 66-60

Troy, NY –The Sage Colleges' women's basketball team hosted the Falcons of Albertus Magnus College on Thursday evening in the Neff Center in a non-conference game.  The Falcons came from behind to tally the 66-60 victory and improve to 17-5 on the year. The loss puts Sage at 7-14 on the season.

Sage held a 36-27 lead at the break, but the Falcons were paced by senior Kendrea Walker (New Haven, CT/Hillhouse), who had 11 points and 10 rebounds in the second half. She finished with a game-high 24 points and 18 rebounds, while shooting 9-of-15 from the floor.

AMC's junior guard Nicole Acerra (East Haven, CT/East Haven) hit a free pair of free throws at 2:08 to tie the action for the fourth time at 60-60 and then gave her team a 61-60 lead with her second shot.  Walker added a layup and a free throw to pace the Falcons as they went on a 6-0 run to end the action. By game's end, Acerra had 11 points, while sophomore guard Annie Sutila (Bridgeport, CT/Notre Dame Catholic) added 10 points.

Sage's junior forward Chelsea Martin (Davenport, NY/Jefferson Central) poured in a season-best 16 points for the Gators, while connecting for three three-point baskets. Junior guard Erica Houle (Latham, NY/Shaker) also tallied 16 points as she made four three-pointers and elevated her season total to 47, which ranks fourth all-time for Sage single-season performances. Sophomore guard Megan Bowman (Saranac, NY/Saranac) also finished in double-digits on Thursday evening as she had 12 points.  Sophomore guard Lea McClain (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) added seven points with eight rebounds.

The Gators are slated to be back in action on February 10, weather permitting for an away Skyline Conference contest at St. Joseph's College (LI) at 3 p.m. Next up for Albertus Magnus College is a home conference contest against Saint Joseph's (ME) at 1 p.m., also on February 9.
