Box Score

Albany, NY---The Sage College's women's basketball team opened the new season on Thursday evening hosting the Cardinals of Plattsburgh State in the Kahl Center.  Plattsburgh State posted the 58-42 non-conference win to jump out to a 1-0 record on the young season, while the setback puts Sage at 0-1.

Plattsburgh's senior forward Dana Nucaro (Valhalla, NY/Valhalla) nearly had a double-double as she lead all players with her 19 points after connecting on 12 second half points for the Cardinals. Junior guard Kathleen Payne (Goshen, NY/Goshen) added 12 points with eight rebounds and a pair of blocked shots, while sophomore guard Brittany Marshall (Malone, NY/Franklin Academy) added 11 points with three assists, six boards and a blocked shot.

A newcomer to Sage this season, junior guard Erica Houle (Latham, NY/Shaker) finished with a Gator high of 18 points with four three-point baskets. She had 15 second half points and helped to pull the Gators within striking distance as they trailed by just 10 points down the stretch twice (44-34, 6:50) and 46-36 (6:06).

Sophomore forward Amie Jefferson (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) had 1o points with 12 rebounds for the double-double while also blocking three shots. She is edging ever closer to the Sage career blocked shot record as she now has 55, just ten shy of tying the mark set by Kelly Murphy with 65 (1999-2002).

Sage's junior forward Chelsea Martin (Davenport, NY/Jefferson Central) added seven points for the Gators, while Houle also pulled down six rebounds.

Sage returns to action on November 17 hosting Utica College at 2 p.m. in the Neff Center in Troy, while Plattsburgh will host Middlebury College on November 25 in a 2 p.m. contest.
