Sage women make it three straight wins after besting SVC, 77-44

Bennington, VT –The Sage Colleges' women's basketball team travelled to Southern Vermont College on Thursday evening for a non-conference game. The Gators came away with a convincing 77-44 win to improve to 3-5 overall, while the host team drops to 1-4 overall. Sage has now won three straight games.

Sage held a 37-12 halftime lead and never looked back en route to the team's third straight win.  Sage's sophomore guard Megan Bowman (Saranac, NY/Saranac) finished with a team-high 13 points, while sophomore forward Amie Jefferson (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) added 12 points and team-leading eight rebounds. Sage's freshman Sara Tironi (Cambridge, NY/ Cambridge Central), the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week, added 11 points for the Gators as all 11 players scored in the action.

Sage forced 31 turnovers and held SVC to a 29.3% field goal percentage.

The Gators will be back in action on December 7 hosting Bard College in the Kahl Gym at 7 p.m. in the final contest of the 2012 half of the season.
