ALFRED, N.Y. – In a matchup that featured the top-two defenses in the Empire 8 Conference, Russell Sage College fell 65-56 tonight at Alfred.
RSC (12-7/5-5 E8), which got off to its best start to a season since 2014-15, was led offensively by guard Brandon Harris (Elmsford, NY/Alexander Hamilton/Herkimer CC), who scored 32 points, tied for the fourth-most in a game by a Gator. The junior went 2-4 from beyond the arc and 6-6 from the charity stripe on his way to the season high. Harris added five rebounds and two steals in the effort.
Senior forward Todd Williamson (Schenectady, NY/Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons) was the only other Gator in double-figures on Friday, registering a double-double of 14 points and ten rebounds.
Sophomore forward Avery Oduro-Dompreh (Elkridge, MD/Oakland Mills), who began the week leading the Empire 8 Conference in blocks per-game and was ranked second in the Conference in rebounding, blocked one Saxon shot and brought down eight rebounds.
Alfred (9-10/5-5 E8) was led by Tyler Curran, who went 5-5 from the free throw line on his way to 16 points.
Looking ahead, the Gators are back on the court tomorrow afternoon at Houghton. Start time is set for 4:00 PM.
