MARCY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Men's Basketball, off to its best start to a season since 2014-2015, trimmed a 16-point second half deficit to six before falling 75-65 tonight at SUNY Poly.
The Gators (12-4/5-2 E8), used a 12-2 run across 6:04 to get within a half dozen with 1:52 left, only for the host Wildcats to score the next four points, all at the foul line, to regain breathing room. SUNY Poly (10-6/5-2 E8), which had four players score in double figures, went 9-of-10 at the lineb during the final 1:24 to seal the home Empire 8 Conference victory.
Junior Trevor Green (Troy, NY/Lansingburgh/HVCC) led all players with 22 points on 7-of-17 shooting. The guard, who tops RSC in scoring, grabbed 11 rebounds and tallied four steals. He registered his fifth double-double of the season and second in as many games. Green is averaging 19.0 points on 44.8 percent shooting and 8.3 rebounds across the past four contests.
Junior guard Brandon Harris (Elmsford, NY/Alexander Hamilton/Herkimer CC) added 19 points on 50.0 percent shooting and nine rebounds, while senior guard Noah Girard (Glens Falls, NY/Glens Falls), who became the fifth RSC player to surpass 1,000 career points in the January 17 home win vs. Saint John Fisher, moved into fourth place on the program's career scoring chart tonight. The program leader for career made three-pointers passed Marcus Patterson '17, who had 1,021. Next up for the co-captain is Jalon Borders '22 at 1,095 career points.
