Gators Fall in Home Opener

ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Men's Basketball kicked off their home slate on Saturday afternoon, falling to visiting Bard 73-60.

The game was tied with three minutes left to play in the opening twenty, before the Raptors went on a 12-1 run to end the half. Sophomore guard Adam Myers (Troy, NY/LaSalle Institute/Saint Rose) drilled a buzzer-beater three-pointer to end the first half making it a 34-26 Bard lead heading into the locker rooms. 

The Gators (2-1) got the score back to within three with five left to go in the contest, but were outscored 16-6 the rest of the way.

Junior guard Brandon Harris (Elmsford, NY/Alexander Hamilton/Herkimer CC) paced the offense for Russell Sage, scoring 12 points off the bench while grabbing seven rebounds. Sophomore forward Avery Oduro-Dompreh (Elkridge, MD/Oakland Mills) nearly registered a double-double, registering 10 points and nine rebounds, while senior guard Noah Girard (Glens Falls, NY/Glens Falls) added 11 points.

Bard (2-1) was led by Laz Panagiotounis, who led all scorers with 23 points. 

Looking ahead, RSC returns to action on Wednesday with a matchup against Castleton.


Gator Bites: The 2024-2025 season marks the 16th for Brian Barnes at the helm of the Gators...Nine returnees combine with seven newcomers on this year's squad…Senior guard Noah Girard (Glens Falls, NY/Glens Falls) and senior forward Todd Williamson (Schenectady, NY/Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons) were voted co-captains of this year's squad…Girard began the campaign seventh among Gators with 832 career points and fifth with 101 career steals…He headed into his senior season as the program leader with 110 made three pointers.
