RSC Fends Off Visiting Panthers

ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College held visiting SUNY Purchase to just three made field goals and 11 points overall during the final eight minutes of tonight's 70-65 non-conference victory.

The Gators (5-2), which enjoyed a 38-18 advantage on points in the paint, had four players score in double figures.

Junior Trevor Green (Troy, NY/Lansingburgh/HVCC) topped all participants with 28 points, his most in a game as a Gator, on 50.0 shooting.  The guard, who secured 11 rebounds and tallied four steals, registered 21 of his points after the intermission to help RSC earn the comeback victory. 

Junior guard Brandon Harris (Elmsford, NY/Alexander Hamilton/Herkimer CC) added an RSC career-best 14 points and three assists, while senior guard Noah Girard (Glens Falls, NY/Glens Falls) tossed in 12 points  

Senior forward Todd Williamson (Schenectady, NY/Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons) corralled 11 caroms, while sophomore forward Avery Oduro-Dompreh (Elkridge, MD/Oakland Mills) went 4-of-5 from the field en route to 10 points.

Junior forward Rashid Nikiema led SUNY Purchase (3-2) with 23 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals. He knocked down six shots from beyond the arc.

Looking ahead, RSC wraps up the 2024 portion of its schedule on Sunday afternoon against Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.  Tip-off is slated for 1:00 pm.


Gator Bites: The 2024-2025 season marks the 16th for Brian Barnes at the helm of the Gators...Nine returnees combine with seven newcomers on this year's edition…Girard and Williamson were voted co-captains of this year's squad…Girard began the campaign seventh among Gators with 832 career points and fifth with 101 career steals…He headed into his senior season as the program leader with 110 made three pointers...The co-captain, now with 121 made treys, surpassed 900 career points in the November 26 win vs. MSMC.
