Sage's Women's Track Team honored by U.S.T.F.C.C.C.A. for academic success

New Orleans, LA—The newest members of the Department of Athletics, Sage's women's and men's track and field teams were recognized for their efforts in the classroom and on the field of competition by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (U.S.T.F.C.C.A.) as the 2014 Division III All-Academic Track & Field teams were named. A total of 158 women's teams and 93 men's teams earned the distinction as a result of earning a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or higher.

Principia flexed its academic muscle to take the No. 1 spots on both the men's and women's lists of top GPAs. The Principia women reported a cumulative team GPA of 3.75 – best in the nation regardless of Division or gender – ahead of Caltech's 3.67 and Pomona-Pitzer's 3.63.

Sage, which started varsity competition in track and field in the spring of 2014 was led by veteran head coach Jim Bowles and his women's team was recognized for a combined 3.38 grade point average.
