Gator women compete at RPI at 2014 Capital District Championship

Troy, NY---The Sage Colleges' women's outdoor track and field team competed on Saturday at the Capital District Championships, a non-team scored meet held at RPI.

Sage's women's team was led by rookie Krystal Lambert (Brooklyn, NY/John Dewey) finished in 8th in the 100 meter run with her time of 13.69. She added a 16th place in the 200 meters in 28.56, while junior Abimibola Ogunware (Springfield Gardens, NY/Hillcrest) finished in 17th in the 100 meters in 15.09 and 27th in the 200 in 31.98.

Also competing in the 200 meter, freshman Sharmise Pratt (New York, NY/Urban Assembly for Careers in Sports) picked up 30th in 35.41.

Lambert also picked up an 8th place finish as well in the long jump with her leap of 4.63 meters.

In the 1,500 meter run, sophomore Ashley Maresca (Brant Lake, NY/North Warren Central) finished in 28th in 5:38.50, while freshman Lauren Belfast (Iliion, NY/Ilion) added a 33rd place showing in 5:49.98. Maresca picked up 19th in the 800 meter run in 2:39.67, while Belfast picked up 27th in 2:50.41 and sophomore Victoria Bunk (Franklin, NH/Bishop Brady) added a 31st place showing in 3:09.63.

Sage finished in seventh in the 4 x 100 meter relay as junior Victoria Boucard (Richmond Hills, NY/Health Professions and Human Services), rookie Jalissa Adams (Brooklyn, NY/Clara Barton), sophomore Anna McConnell (Broadalbin, NY/Amsterdam), and sophomore Mary Valentine (Housatonic, MA/Monument Mountain) competed and posted a time of 1:02.05.

Sage's 4 x 400 relay took home 10th in 5:13.31 as rookie Christine Celello (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia), junior Caitlin Coughlin (Palenville, NY/Catskill), sophomore Megan Lugo (West Nyack, NY/Clarkstown South) and sophomore Alaina Krueger (Selkirk, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) competed.

In the shot put, freshman Dayle Carhart (Albany, NY/Guilderland) finished with a throw of 8.29 meters and took home 18th, while rookie Julie Sterling (West Winfield, NY/Mount Markham) added a 21st place finish with her toss of 7.55 meters.  In the discus, Carhart finished in 16th with her throw of 25.61 meters.

Next up for the Gators is competition on May 2, travelling to Vassar College for their event, which starts at 5 p.m.
