ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Director of Athletics Jim Lyons was appointed as a member of the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Committee.

His term of service on the committee will begin September 1, 2024, and continue through August 2028. As a member of an NCAA committee, Lyons will work to sustain and advance the NCAA's mission, traditions, values and reputation. In addition, he will play a major role in ensuring high-quality NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship Tournaments.

"I am honored to have been selected to sit on the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Committee for the next four years," said Lyons.  "Committees like this one ensure that Division III student athletes have the highest quality experience possible when they qualify for postseason NCAA Tournament play.  Being named to this committee allows me to return to my roots in lacrosse, and to help advance the strengths of one of the greatest championships in Division III.  I look forward to working with Will Hopkins from the NCAA as well as with the other returning members of the committee over my term of service".   

"Jim has a long history in the sport of lacrosse between his playing and coaching days," added RSC Head Coach Ryan Lanigan.  "He's served on numerous committees during his time as a college coach and administrator and will do a tremendous job for student-athletes as a member of the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Committee." 

This is Lyons' second term on the committee, previously serving from 2006-2010 while at SUNY Geneseo.
