Oneonta, NY--The Sage College's women's volleyball team travelled to Oneonta State to participate in the Dig Pink Invitational. The Gators faced Hartwick College and Oneonta State on Saturday, but dropped a pair of matches. Sage fell 3-2 to Hartwick in the first contest (27-29, 25-14, 17-25, 25-16, 15-12). In the nightcap, the Gators dropped a 3-0 decision to the Red Dragons of Oneonta State (3-0, 25-16, 25-11, 25-16). Sage finishes the 2011 campaign with a 14-21 record.

Against Hartwick, freshman Helen Putriment (Troy, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) tallied 18 kills with 22 digs.

Pacing the Gators in the match as well all with seven kills each were rookies Stacey Forte (Bay Shore, NY/Brentwood), Rebekah Parker (Malta, NY/Ballston Spa), and Ciera Holt (Delanson, NY/Duanesburg).

Sage's sophomore setter Joanie Cooney (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) added 37 setting assists in the contest, while senior libero Kelsey Wilson (Schenectady, NY/Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons) added 21 digs in the tough five-set match.

Against Oneonta State, Putriment tallied five kills with eight digs. She caps her first collegiate season with 377 kills, a number that ranks fifth all-time in single-season performances for the Gators. 

Rookie defensive specialist Serena Heard (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) added nine digs, while Holt had four kills.

Cooney added nine digs with 14 assists to cap her second season at Sage with a personal-best 892 setting assists and finishes the campaign with a single-season performance that was seventh best in the Gator record book.

Wilson, the Gators' lone senior on the 2011 squad, finishes her stellar career on Saturday having racked up 1,669 career digs, which stands as the third-best total in Sage career history. Her 3.79 digs per set average stands fourth on the career list. She finished 2011 with a team-best 490 digs, which is a personal best. Her 2011 total ranks eighth-best at Sage as Wilson had three-straight 400+ dig seasons spanning from 2009-2011.
