Utica, NY--The Sage College's women's volleyball team travelled to Utica College on Wednesday evening for a non-conference match. Utica won the first set, (25-11), but the Gators came back to take the next three sets in convincing fashion (25-17, 25-15, 25-21). Sage improves to 14-19 and has doubles their victory total from a year ago, while Utica drops to 2-30 on the season.

Pacing the Gators in the match was rookie Stacey Forte (Bay Shore, NY/Brentwood) as she led Sage with her 14 kills and two aces. She leads the team with her 54 serving aces.  Freshman Helen Putriment (Troy, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) tallied 12 kills with eight digs and leads all Gators this fall with her 354 kills, which ranks no. 8 in single-season performances.

Sage's sophomore setter Joanie Cooney (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) added 40 setting assists in the contest, a personal best and now has 841 on the season and ranks eighth in single-season efforts. Overall on her career she has 1,400 setting assists and is fourth on the Gator career list.   

For the Gators, senior libero Kelsey Wilson (Schenectady, NY/Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons) added 19 digs with three serving aces. She has a team-high 457 digs this season and ranks 12^th for single-season marks, while adding to her growing career resume. She has elevated her career total to 1,636 digs which is third on the Sage career list.  She has also racked up 118 career aces and is 12^th on the Gator all-time performance list.

Sage takes to the court again at Oneonta State on October 29 with a pair of matches against Hartwick College (11:00 a.m.) and the host Red Dragons of Oneonta State (1:30 p.m.).
