ALFRED, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Women's Lacrosse commenced Empire 8 Conference play with this afternoon's 15-6 loss at Alfred.
The Saxons used a hot start, leading 8-0 halfway into the second period, to take down the visiting Gators.
The Gators had two register multi-goal games, as sophomore defender Alexis Crossman (Corinth, NY/Corinth) and senior midfielder Tristyn Valenze (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) each found the back of the net twice in the Saturday afternoon conference action.
Crossman also led the way defensively for RSC, causing five turnovers and securing six ground balls while adding five draw controls to her statsheet. Freshman midfielder Maia Hunter (Theresa, NY/Indian River) added tallied a game-high six draw controls.
Sophomore goalkeeper Summer Atchley (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) (1-1) stopped eleven Saxon shots in the loss.
Alfred (2-4/1-0 E8) was headlined by a six goal performance from Megan Rinker in the Empire 8 conference opener.
RSC (1-4/0-1 E8) plays next on Wednesday afternoon at home against SUNY Plattsburgh. Start time is set for 4:00 PM.
