ALBANY, N.Y. – Visiting SUNY Plattsburgh used a 6-3 final quarter to edge Russell Sage College 14-13 on Wednesday afternoon.

The non-conference action was tightly contested throughout, as the largest lead for either team was only two goals, and the fourth period featured four ties.

Sophomore defender Alexis Crossman (Corinth, NY/Corinth) topped the Gators, which registered their second-highest goal output of the spring, with five goals, six draw controls, four caused turnovers and four groundballs.

Senior midfielder Maddison Walter (South Glens Falls, NY/South Glens Falls) added four goals and five draw controls, while sophomore defender Madisyn Bullock (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) netted three goals.

Sophomore goalkeeper Summer Atchley (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) (1-2) stopped six Cardinal shots.

Senior midfielder Caitlin Nash and sophomore attacker Cynthia Barnosky provided SUNY Plattsburgh (2-6), which snapped a five-game slide, with four goals apiece.

Sophomore goalkeeper Anna Myers, who entered the Wednesday matinee at the intermission, made four saves on the eight on-target shots she faced to earn the victory (2-5).

After Crossman put RSC up 13-12 with 5:08 remaining, Nash answered with a successful free position just 25 seconds later.  Nash recorded the eventual game-winner with 2:13 remaining.

The Cardinals secured the ensuing draw control and attempted to run some clock, especially after Walter received a green card with 2:00 left.  With 1:23 to go, RSC forced a turnover to earn a chance to re-tie the contest.  Following a Gator timeout, Nash caused an RSC miscue and secured the groundball and with it, the road victory.

Barnosky took over the top spot on the SUNY Plattsburgh career scoring list this afternoon.

The Gators (1-5) take the field again on Saturday afternoon at Saint John Fisher, ranked 18th in this week's IWLCA National Poll.
