NEW YORK – Sage Defender Kyle LeClerc (Beacon, NY/Beacon) became the first player in program history to be named the Skyline Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
LeClerc was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Year for the second-consecutive season, and his backline's 13 shutouts and 15 goals allowed helped the Gators to their first Skyline Conference Men's Soccer title. Following the season, the junior captain was named to the NSCAA All-East Region First Team, and received a spot on the association's NCAA Division III Scholar-Athlete All-America Third-Team.
Last year, LeClerc was named to the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Men's East Region Third Team. A CoSIDA Academic All-American candidate in 2015, the junior was tapped to the ECAC Division III Metro First Team for his efforts at defense. The defenseman was named Skyline Player of the Week for the first time in Week 8 of the 2015 season. He has totaled eight goals, five assists and 21 points over his career.
The Gator defense ended the season nationally ranked 5th in shutout percentage (0.65), 19th in save percentage (0.858) and 28th in shots-on-goal/game (9.05). Sage had their most successful season in program history with a 13-4-3 (7-1-2 Skyline) record and its first birth into the NCAA tournament.
