Kansas City, MO –Sage men's soccer player, junior defensive stand-out Kyle LeClerc (Beacon, NY/Beacon) was named to the 2015 National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division III Scholar-Athlete All-America Third Team. The business administration major at Sage with a 3.46 grade-point-average, LeClerc becomes the first Sage men's soccer player to earn this distinction.

 

The honor comes on the heels of LeClerc's selection to the 2015 NSCAA East Regional First Team. LeClerc anchored the nationally ranked defense all season as the only field players to start in every game. A junior team captain, led the Sage defense to a 0.65 shutout percentage, ranked 5th amongst Division III back lines, while also ranking 41st nationally in team goals against average (.730).

 

Last year, LeClerc was named to the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Men's East Region Third Team. A CoSIDA Academic All-American candidate in 2015, the junior has had an impressive three years at Sage being named the Skyline Defensive Player of the Year and All-Conference twice. Last year he was tapped to the ECAC Division III Metro First Team for his efforts at defense. The defenseman was named Skyline Player of the Week for the first time in Week 8 of the 2015 season. He has totaled eight goals, five assists and 21 points over his career.

 

The 2015 Gators won the program's first Skyline Conference tournament championship as well as garnering the team's first NCAA Division III tournament appearance along the way. On the season, Sage went 13-4-3 and established a school record for most shutouts in a season with 13.
