PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – Russell Sage College had 14 different players record at least one point in Saturday's 24-5 non-conference victory at Saint Joseph's University - Long Island. The Gators, now winners of three-straight, led 9-2 after the opening period and 18-2 at the break.
Freshman midfielder Carson Pesce (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) and midfielder Jake McElwee (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty), a grad student, topped RSC with six points apiece. Pesce had a goal and five assists, while McElwee tallied four goals and two assists.
Midfielder Anthony Marrone (Monroe, NJ/Monroe Township), a grad student, continued his strong start to the spring with four goals and an assist. He closed the weekend leading the Empire 8 Conference in points (28), goals (26), and goals per-game (3.71).
Senior midfielder Dean Sampson (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) went 12-of-14 in the X, while senior defender Joe Johnson (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls), who received an honorable mention for the USILA All-American Team last season, registered three goals, eight groundballs and two caused turnovers.
Sophomore attacker Carden Stubba topped the Golden Eagles (1-2) with two goals and two assists.
RSC (3-4) hosts Vermont State: Castleton on Wednesday at 4:00 PM.
