ALBANY, N.Y. – Visiting Dean broke a 7-7 deadlock with three fourth quarter goals just 1:58 apart to hold off Russell Sage College 11-9 tonight.
Trailing 10-7 with 2:59 left, the Gators scored twice in 42 seconds to get within one, 10-9, with 1:54 to go. However the Bulldogs won the ensuing face-off and added an insurance tally to improve to 5-0.
Midfielder Adam Willig (Buffalo, NY/Amherst Central), a grad student, recorded a career-high of four points on three goals and an assist to pace the RSC offense.
Freshman goalkeeper Jordon Hankel (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) stopped 12 Dean shots, while freshman defender Eli Himelein (Irving, NY/Lakeshore Central) registered three caused turnovers and five groundballs.
Senior attacker Diego Alvarez-Segee led Dean with five goals and an assist.
The non-conference contest was tightly-contested throughout, with the RSC and Dean defenses up to par on a cold and windy Friday night. The squads were knotted up a 4 at the half, and Dean held a 6-5 lead going to the fourth period.
RSC (0-4) heads to Virginia Beach for a pair of games next week. The Gators will face Curry on Monday and Greensboro on Wednesday.
